We’re a coworking space in Ultimo, Sydney.

People working together

The Workbench is a space where you can get work done and be surrounded by the best kind of coworkers: people creating interesting things.

The challenge in being able to work from anywhere is that there’s often nowhere to work from. We’re about fixing that. The Workbench isn’t about sharing desks and offices, it’s about bringing together Sydney’s creative community and getting things done.

We’re designers, writers, developers, artists and business people.

Although some great startups work with us, we’re not an incubator. Instead, we’ve created a unique, casual space to get work done alongside like-minded people, collaborating on projects and sharing ideas.

What we’re missing is you.

The space

Last Played: We’re on Rdio and Last.fm

The Workbench is on the second floor of a light-filled Ultimo heritage warehouse and is fitted out with ergonomic desks and a gorgeous Memphis Red workbench which runs the length of the room.

If you’d like to try a standing desk there’s another bench that’s the perfect height for that too. More relaxed? There’s beanbags and plenty of space on the sofas by the window.

Take a break at the bench or tables in our kitchen, take five on an old-school video game arcade table or take a walk in the park behind our building.

The space is bathed in super-fast wireless internet and there’ also gigabit ethernet to most of the desks if you prefer your internet wired.

There are separate mens and womens bathrooms which we share with other offices on our floor, and there’s room to park your bike next to your desk.

Photos of the space can be found on our blog.

Ultimo, Sydney is our ‘hood

We’re excited to be a part of the community in Ultimo, just outside the Sydney CBD.

The area has plenty of cafes (Mio Mia in our building, Le Depot just up the road, and a stack more including the coffee-nerd haven Mecca Espresso) and plenty of options for lunch (we’re often at Kopitiam for Malaysian or the Glasgow Arms for Tuesday’s $10 burgers). Haymarket’s a few minutes walk if you’d like Sydney’s best noodles, ramen and laksa.

There’s a park right behind our block that’s perfect for soaking up sunshine or kicking a ball around at lunch, and the Ian Thorpe Acquatic Centre is five minutes away if swimming laps or hitting the sauna is more your style.

Our favourites, mapped.
